Things to do at home to keep you amused

| |Hunters Estate Agents

It’s easy to feel anxious whilst we are being asked to stay at home but we’re inviting you to look at the positives. You can spend quality time with your family, improve your home or just take some well-deserved ‘me time’.

Although it is indeed worrying times, many of us are in the same boat, so here are some ideas of how to keep you, and the whole family, happy and amused within the space of your own home.

Binge-watch & Read

You’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth from any TV subscriptions that you’re currently signed up to. Finding new, or even revisiting old box sets to binge watch, or reading your favourite book, can help pass the time and give you something to discuss with your family and friends.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind

In case you haven’t heard already, Joe Wicks, also known as The Body Coach, is streaming live PE lessons for kids, and their parents, every morning at 9am Monday to Friday on YouTube. We can assure you from experience, that these 30 minutes sessions aren’t as easy as you’d think! You can also look into trying different forms of exercise, or even take advantage of meditation online, as many people are offering free sessions.

Keep in Touch

Although you may feel alone in this, you’re not. Pick up the phone, use your tablet, call or video call your family and friends. There are many free apps available to help you start group video calls, giving you the feeling that you are all together.

Do some DIY

You may have been putting off doing the odd jobs around the house, but now there’s no excuse. Make a list of any repairs that need doing, paint a room or even just declutter your space. You’ll be spending a lot of time here over the coming weeks, so why not make your house a home again.

Find your Inner Baker

Whether it’s baking or cooking, you can now spend more time in the kitchen improving your skills. There are many online recipes to give you tips and inspiration on what to make next. Having breakfast, lunch and dinner at home may get boring, so try something new to impress the family today.

Become an Old School Gamer

Put the electronic games down for a moment and enjoy the classics. Monopoly, Cluedo, Card games and Trivial Pursuit are all old family favourites. You may be surprised by how many old board games you have in your attic that you and your family can enjoy together.

Get Gardening

We don’t want to tempt fate but the sun has been shining lately, meaning we can spend some leisurely time in the garden. You can invite the kids to help you tidy up your outdoor space by weeding, potting plants or even try growing your own vegetables.
