Garden improvements to impress potential buyers

| |Selling

If you’re planning on selling your home you will want to do whatever you can to impress potential buyers. You may have already made a start on staging your home to sell, now what about your garden? While the country has been on lockdown we have all been spending more time in our gardens, and as life returns to normal we can continue to enjoy our outdoor spaces.

We have seen a large interest in gardens and outdoor space from our home buyers so we are sharing our advice on the garden improvements that will impress potential buyers.

Tidy up

When you know a potential buyer is coming for a viewing you’ll undoubtedly tidy your house but what about your garden? By clearing the path, weeding the garden, even just putting the bins away, you will immediately make your outdoor space more appealing to potential buyers. Remember to also mow the lawn, and cut back bushes to keep your garden looking its best.

Add some colour

Splashes of colour can be added throughout your garden with flowers, coloured stones, and painted fences. Make your home stand out with a bright and summery front, and even rear garden. You will can enjoy these features until the time comes to move.

Remember to accessorize

Accessories are a simple and cheap way to brighten up your outdoor space. Cushions, throws and even outdoor rugs transform a garden, and can also be taken with you once you sell. Try also lighting an outdoor candle during a viewing to add some summer scents and atmosphere.

Light it up

Outdoor lighting isn’t just for Christmas time. Fairy lights, solar lights, lanterns and even rope lighting are on trend and can create the perfect finish to any garden. We are all enjoying spending more time in the garden often into the evening when the right garden lighting is essential.

Show it off

Show off the potential of your garden by staging it for each viewing. Lay the table, set up a barbecue area or even light the firepit. Give potential buyers an insight into how they could enjoy the outdoor space. By setting the scene your potential buyers will imagine themselves hosting a party, relaxing in the sun, or cooking for the family.

As buyers return to the market we hope that our suggestions help improve your gardens and attract the right buyer for you. For help selling your home give our sales team a call on 01444 254400.
